Market Bistro

I finally made it to the Market Bistro. I had heard about it from a friend and had been trying to think of a creative way to tell my partner in in crime I wanted to go on a date to the grocery store. Well he happened to describe to me this sandwich he had there just yesterday. We both love food and if we have something delicious without the other partner, we can’t wait to tell of the tasty morsels. I couldn’t believe my ears! When I told him of wanting to go there, he said, “Let’s go!” So off we went.
It would be a short visit since he had to work in a couple of hours. So we were only able to take in a small portion of the store. We came for the sandwich but had to check out all of the other options for eating there. There are so many choices! You can even get a prime rib dinner and a glass of wine! I wanted to see all of the cheeses, one of my faves. The cheese section led to the Italian section, which was amazing. We were just about to head back to the sandwich section when my eye caught the fish counter. I wanted to see the large selection of fish choices. The man at the fish counter was so nice and when we told him we were just looking and that this was my first visit he informed us that you can ask for samples from each section and then you won’t have to grocery shop hungry!
The only sample he had to offer was oysters – just our luck! Yes, we are crazy about oysters! And they are only $1.25 each. He had noticed the Cape Cod shirt partner in crime was wearing and gave us the Nantucket oyster to try. It was large and delicious. I think it was the best free sample I have ever had.
Time was short so we headed over to the sandwich shop. Again, there are just so many choices in every section of the store. It is overwhelming. My eyes were as big as saucers with the culinary opportunities. Since I could not afford to take the time to really look at all of the options, I went with the sandwich described from yesterday. The Hot Roast Beef, Bacon and Brie with Tomato and Arugula, on a soft roll and there might have been some type of dressing. The meld of flavors dissolving in my mouth was euphoric. Homemade chips completed the meal and I even saved half for dinner.
I can’t wait to go back! I think I am putting my empty growler in the car and going for beer and oysters after work tomorrow!
